Which pathway does it need

Before you send the drawings

What drawings do you need?

The architectural set: plans, elevations and sections, plus the window schedule and any specifications.

A PDF is enough.

Which NCC edition do you assess to?

The edition in force when your building permit is issued: NCC 2025 in Victoria from 1 May 2026, with projects already running sometimes still on NCC 2022 or 2019.

What if the surveyor or council comes back with questions?

Send the request to us.

Questions about our report are answered from the same drawing set.

What is the difference between an elemental assessment and a NatHERS star rating?

An elemental assessment checks fabric, glazing and services element by element against the housing provisions - the direct route when the design already sits inside the code.

A NatHERS assessment thermally simulates the dwelling to produce a star rating, and is the route when the elemental provisions do not suit the design, most often because of large glazing areas.

How long does a residential energy report take?

Within 48 hours from a complete set of plans.

What does it cost?

Competitive pricing, quoted before any work starts.

A 7 star energy rating is priced on the home (single or double storey), and a Deemed-to-Satisfy report (the Part H6 elemental assessment) on what has to be assessed.

7 star energy ratings: the details

What it covers

  • A NatHERS thermal simulation of the dwelling, against the climate zone of the site
  • The star rating, with stamped plans ready for the building permit
  • Class 10 garages, carports and sheds where the code requires them

When the building surveyor asks for it

The building surveyor needs it with the building permit application for a new dwelling.

A NatHERS rating suits designs with large glazing areas; designs that already sit inside the code can take the Deemed-to-Satisfy route instead.
